Our magnificent 5th grader crossing guards were recently commended by the head of law enforcement for the City of Bellevue, Police Chief Steve Mylett. Chief Mylett was a guest at the recent Veteran’s Day assembly, and he met with our crossing guards at the conclusion of the event.  He told them they had an essential job in our community to help keep the citizens of Bellevue safe, and that he appreciated their service.

Not only do our crossing guards help everyone at crosswalks, they are also the go-to people when the staff seeks responsible older students to take on leadership roles. At the Veteran’s Day assembly, crossing guards were excused from class to greet arriving guests in the main office, and to escort them to their seats.

These 5th grade volunteers display their dedication every day. Under the guidance of adult staff, crossing guards arrive early in the morning before everyone else, and they stay until most people have gone home. Remember to obey and respect our crossing guards when you see them on duty!
