Students explored molecular changes at our Mad Science assembly yesterday.   Rockin' Robin demonstrated various molecular changes in matter using fire and dry ice (solid carbon dioxide). A piece of paper caught on fire and disappeared! A magic potion combined with Robin's own energy became too big for its small space and exploded! With the help of some Enatai students dry ice cloud bubbles were created and a balloon inflated as carbon dioxide changed from solid to gas! Go Enatai Eagles!  Enatai's Food Share program has provided 450 pounds of leftover food to a local food bank .   As you may be aware, students, parents and teachers came together in October 2018 to launch Food Share at Enatai.  Any unwanted and leftover packaged food from the lunchroom is transported once a week by parents to a local food bank.  This food previously use to end up as land fill.   Did you know that 7 Bellevue School District Elementary schools participate in the food share program?  In just 4 months this program has collected 7,044 pounds of food for ... read full article

Our magnificent 5th grader crossing guards were recently commended by the head of law enforcement for the City of Bellevue, Police Chief Steve Mylett.  Chief Mylett was a guest at the recent Veteran’s Day assembly, and he met with our crossing guards at the conclusion of the event.  He told them they had an essential job in our community to help keep the citizens of Bellevue safe, and that he appreciated their service. School Food Share launches at Enatai!
This week parents, students and teachers came together to launch the School Food Share program at Enatai!  This is a program to recover uneaten food from the school cafeteria and distribute it to a local food bank. All students are always encouraged first to eat as much as they'd like and then donate anything that is leftover and unopened like unopened milk, yogurts, applesauce, string cheese etc. In the past, these unused items were put in the trash and became landfill. A Message from our PTSA Membership Chair: Thank you so much for your terrific response to our Early Registration Membership drive!  The Fall Eaglewear order containing our gift t-shirts has been submitted and will be coming to classrooms in late October.  If you submitted your membership fee by 9/21 but did not submit a youth T-shirt size you will have another opportunity when we order Eaglewear again in Winter. Kindergarten Field Trip!
The kindergarteners went on a fun field trip last week to see "The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show" at the Seattle Children's Theatre!  The play features four beloved stories by the writer and illustrator Eric Carle performed onstage by very large puppets. Even in just the third week of school, all of the kindergarten teachers commended their wonderful students for great behavior and practicing their listening skills in what was for some, their very first field trip! Backpack Meals for Kids  is a non-profit organization that works with the Bellevue School District to provide free, easy-to-make meals each  Friday  for students that may not otherwise have food to eat over the weekend. Thanks to the many volunteers, parents, teachers, staff, and students who helped make our Fall Scholastic Book Fair a BIG success!   We sold $10,046 in books.  Enatai's book fair makes 55% back in Scholastic dollars. Bellevue School District has just announced changes to the school calendar to make up for those school days missed because of snow.  School will now be held on Friday, March 15th and Friday, June 21st.  This replaces the Professional Day formerly planned for March 15th and extends the school calendar by one day.
