Enatai Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10th was a great success!  We had an event every day to show our gratitude for our dedicated and hardworking Enatai staff. We provided staff with flowers, candy bar, catered lunch, thank you cards and finished off the week with a coffee bar. It could not have happened without the support of the  whole  community. Thank you to  EVERYONE  who participated by donating, volunteering or both to make the week so successful!!! A  Message from our Librarian: If you have any books you would like to donate to our year end book swap in the library, I am accepting donations until Friday June 14. This event will be happening in library class (K-4th grade) on the last full week of school. In addition, the last day for students to check out book in our library is Monday, June 3. Triangle Pool Summer 2019 Memberships Available! On Thursday, Feb 28, our Enatai Orchestra performed at the West Zone Orchestra Concert.   Our beginning orchestra students played several songs and then listened to the secondary students play.  The progress that occurs in our music programs in middle school and high school is tremendous.  I encourage your students to all continue participating in music throughout their school career. Faculty advisors and the directors for Enatai's new drama program met with parents 12/12 to discuss details of this new program for Enatai's 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. The  Wizard of Oz  will be presented as a "play with music" and can accommodate anywhere from 30 to 200 performers. The annual  Sasquatch Reading Challenge  asks Third Grader students to read books from a wide variety of authors and genres. While International Taste of Enatai is a celebration for our community, Multicultural Week is a special time for our students.  Rhythms of India  visited our school on Monday  and gave students an opportunity to experience Bollywood and Bhangra dancing and music for themselves.  Students learned the background of each dance and practiced steps before dancing their way through two songs for an exciting morning recess.   Toymaker Rick Hartman came to Enatai twice in the last two weeks to make cool wooden toys with the 4th graders (on January 24th) and the Kindergarteners (on February 1st). The 4th graders tapped into their science learning about energy forces to make a top with a homemade motor. Kindergarteners used their budding science knowledge about wood and pushes and pulls to make a slide toy. On Tuesday night Enatai was very fortunate to welcome local author, artist, and activist  Sharon H. Chang   for a special parent education program,  How to Talk to Kids About Race . Thank you to all of the parents, teachers, and school staff in our community -- including those from neighboring schools -- who came out for this important and informative discussion! Ms. Chang also joined us on Wednesday for  two assemblies  for our students to talk about  Race, Racism, Equity, and Justice . On  March 7th , all of Enatai student's attended   The 5th Avenue Theatre production of  Northwest Bookshelf . The play was about six students who went to their school library in search of the perfect book to read.  They discovered the library had many books written by authors from the Pacific Northwest.  The performance incorporated music to help the stories come to life.   Northwest Bookshelf  also acted out some of the rich history and cultural diversity of the Pacific Northwest.  Ask your student if they recognized any of the books and which one was their favorite?   On  March 8th , ... read full article

Enatai Elementary STEM Club: Winter 2019 Create with Code What:  Create with Code - an after school code club where kids learn to code their own games and animations using Scratch from MIT. This Winter 2019 session is for grades 2-4. We provide all equipment. We offer 3+ levels of coding instruction and projects. Eastside Heritage Center to Host "Old School Enatai: The Inside Story" Eastside Heritage Center (EHC), the region’s leading historical society, will host a presentation of “Old School Enatai: The Inside Story,” given by Enatai parent Sharon Pang. The free event, scheduled for Saturday, December 8, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., will be held at EHC headquarters, 11660 Main St. in Bellevue. It will be open to the public. Triangle Pool Summer 2019 Memberships Available! Cub Scouts Will Begin Again This Month! Cub Scout Pack 600 serves West Bellevue including Medina, Clyde Hill, Sacred Heart and Enatai schools. Cub Scouting is for boys and girls in 1st - 5th grades, and involves the whole family. Our Pack’s dedicated adult leaders teach invaluable lessons that help the Cubs progress in the program and in life. We meet twice a month, and hold our meetings at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. Bring it back to school for our  new PTSA Pass It On Program!      Turn in your gently used Eaglewear to our collection box in the Main Office.  Items will be washed and prepped, then the PTSA Table at our community events will offer these items in exchange for any amount donation to our scholarship fund!  Come to Spooky Spaghetti, Science Night, or one of our other community events and take a look if there's something in your size! *Items may also be used by the office for unforseen clothing necessities. ... read full article
