Enatai PTSA Newsletter
September 15, 2017

Current & past newsletters can always be found on our website

Welcome to the 2017-2018 Enatai PTSA Newsletter!

Our newsletter is published on Fridays.  We try really hard to keep it short and sweet, and only give you NEW NEWS and not clog your inbox with repeated information (except these first few weeks when we'll be getting lots of new subscribers - bear with us).  If you miss something, articles are kept on the front page of our website until they are no longer applicable.  We also maintain a newsletter archive, which is kept on our Newsletter 101 Info Page.

Upcoming Events

Our full calendar can always be found on our website.  You can subscribe to our iCal calendar by using these directions.  iCal subscriptions are awesome and we encourage everyone to use them!  All PTSA Events & BSD calendar days are in our calendar, and will be added to YOUR calendar when you subscribe.  You can easily unsubscribe if you decide it's not for you.

Order Your Eaglewear Today!

Get ready for "T-Shirt Tuesdays" and Enatai Spirit Days!  Eaglewear is available for ordering from now until October 3.  Click the "Order Eaglewear" icon in the upper left hand corner at enataiptsa.org, or simply use this handy link.  Order your sweatshirts, t-shirts, or a nice warm scarf today!  There are a couple of new items on the list, so be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom.  Email Amy Lee with your questions.  While we strongly encourage all Enatai families to become PTSA Members, purchasing a PTSA Membership is not a prerequisite for purchasing Eaglewear.

Academic Adventure & Reflections Update

The National PTSA Reflections Art Program info page has been updated with all the new rules and entry form for this year.  Check it out!

Also, Academic Adventure has been updated for this school year.  This year, instead of a trophy, kids who complete 4 or more adventures will earn an Academic Eagle Wall of Fame Certificate, as well as get their name on the wall at school. Kids who complete all 7 adventures will have a special event with the principal in June where they will receive their medals.

Enatai Movie Night Debuts With Born In China

The PTSA's popular Movie Night returns to Enatai Elementary Friday, October 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m. with the highly acclaimed DisneyNature's Born in China (2017) as the featured attraction.  Doors to the Multipurpose Room open at 5:30 p.m. for families to find their seats, get some snacks, and mingle with neighbors. Kids may enter the free prize drawings. Fresh hot popcorn, bottled water and licorice will be for sale with proceeds going to the PTSA. Additionally, there's always a surprise or two at Movie Night, so don't miss out!

There will be chairs set up in the Multipurpose Room for Movie Night, but kids generally like to bring pillows, blankets and/or sleeping bags to sit on the floor. Parents may bring folding camp chairs, but try to bring ones with low backs. Keep high-backed chairs on the perimeter to prevent blocking our youngest audience members.  Movie Night is FREE thanks to your participation in Enatai PTSA Fundraisers.

Parental Advisory: Although rated G for all audiences, DisneyNature's Born in China includes footage depicting some cruel realities of life in the wild. Scenes of animal peril and death may be disturbing for very little or sensitive children. Please review the details of the film at CommonSenseMedia.org to decide what is appropriate for your child.

Help Wanted: We need parents to help operate our Movie Night "theater". If you're planning to come anyway, why not help out? Sign up here!  Questions?  Email Sharon Pang.

Bellevue Schools Foundation Update

Put great education on your grocery list. Shop 5% Day at Whole Foods Market

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, everything you buy at Whole Foods Market Bellevue and 365 Bellevue will nourish programs that transform your child’s education from basic to BEST. Whole Foods will donate 5% of net sales to Bellevue Schools Foundation. Shop in store or through Instacart.com.

Bellevue business owners—parents just like you—will be in store to share their passion for education and samples of their wine, chocolate and great recipes!  Parent vendors include: SeattleChocolatesRoss Andrew Winery, and A Menu for You.

"Office Equipment 101" Training Sessions

Be more efficient when you volunteer to help in your child's classroom by learning how to use the office equipment in the Work Room.  This training session is meant for any parent who would like to be able to save time in the long run and work independently. Learning how to use the equipment properly will help avoid costly repairs. Being able to use all the equipment will allow you to do more to help classroom teachers.

"Office Equipment 101" will be offered two times in the Main Office. Choose one session to attend:
- Session #1: Thursday, September 21 8-9AM
- Session #2: Thursday, September 28 6-6:30PM  NOTE: This session will be offered the half hour before Curriculum Night begins. This shorter condensed session will not have as much time for questions-and-answers.

During the training, you'll have these questions answered:
- How do I use the photocopier? Laminator? Die-cut machines?
- What can I make with the paper-punch book binder?
- Where are the office supplies kept?
- How do I access the 2nd floor Work Room?

Office Equipment 101 is presented by Enatai parents Rae Okamoto and Sharon Pang.

Update Your Info @ enataiptsa.org

Please take a moment and log into your account at www.enataiptsa.org and update your information for the year.  To do this, click on the "My Account" gear icon in the left hand menu of our website, and select your students' grade and teachers.  (Kindy parents, we know you haven't been assigned yet - no worries!)

Also, in order to remain a member in good standing, PTSA memberships must be re-purchased every school year.  PTSA Memberships are now available for purchase.  Simply use this handy link or click the "Join PTSA" link on the left-hand side of our website.   There is more information about the benefits of PTSA Membership in our Membership 101 Info Page.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up 101

If you plan on using the drop-off/pickup lane, please remember:

- Do not get out of your car.  If you need to help your student enter/exit the car, find a spot in the lot or use street parking.
- Have your student enter/exit from the curb side of the car.
- It is ok to pull into/wait in the striped area of the pickup lane, as long as you stay in your car.
- Give hugs, pep talks, and say your long goodbyes in your driveway, before coming to school.
- Walkers & Park Parkers:  Do not jaywalk/cross directly from the park to the school; use the designated crosswalks.

There is more information about pickup and drop-off in our Pick-up/Drop-off 101 article.
