Fall Book Fair Coming Soon!

Enatai PTSA will be hosting our Scholastic Book Fair October 2nd-6th.  This program helps us earn Scholastic Dollars which we use to purchase books for classrooms, our library, and "Scholastic News" for all students.   The Fall Book Fair will be a great way to stock up on reading materials for our first major fundrasier for the year -- Enatai's Read-A-Thon (more info on the Read-A-Thon coming next week).

Family Reading Night will be Tuesday, October 3rd from 5:45-7:15pm.  This is the one night of the week where the book fair is open at night.  We will have teachers on hand reading books to students!  Students should feel free to come in their PJ's!

It takes many volunteers to make the book fair a success.  Thankfully, volunteering at the book fair is easy and fun.  Please use this link to sign up.  If you have questions, please email book fair chairs Julie Uyeda or Leslie Howard.

After-School Language Classes @ Enatai!

Paris Academy will be offering after-school enrichment classes at Enatai.  Please see their website for additional information, or call Parisa Behzad-Pour Paris Academy Northwest Director at (425)753-6562.

Chair the Art is Awesome Program!

We need someone great to help move the Art is Awesome/Art Docent program through this next school year. The chair requirements are straightforward and low-key, and require mostly at-home hours. If you love art, and you love the art program at Enatai, this is a great position for you!  As the chair, you’ll order supplies when they get low, help each classroom coordinate one art docent per class, keep the art docent fileshare organized, and work with our art teachers when the Bellevue Art Museum exhibit comes to our school in the spring. Plus, you get to put your own exciting spin on the program. For more information, please contact Noelle Barnes.

Room Parents Wanted!

Room Parents play a vital role at Enatai by supporting the classroom teacher, helping to coordinate PTSA volunteer needs and keeping the class organized and up-to-date with grade-level and class events. Each class needs at least one room parent. Interested? Please let your teacher know! For more information about being a Room Parent, contact our Room Parent Coordinator, Jennifer Strophy.

Picture Day Help Needed!

Enatai's Picture Day is next Friday, 9/29.  We are looking for some parents to escort kids to the photography area, help kids stay in line, fix collars and practice smiles.  If you are interested, sign up here.  Questions?  Email Jesse Pacem.

Library Help Needed!

Mrs. Figdore is looking for a parent to help out for an hour or two on Friday Mornings in the Library, by checking in books and re-shelving them.

Also, Kindergarten Parents:  Mrs. Figdore would like a parent to come into the Library during your child's class time to check in books, shelve books, help kids find books they would like to check out for the week, and help them check out books.  This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for someone who is new to volunteering at Enatai.  (Your newsletter editor started out as a kindergarten library helper! :))

If you are willing to help during either of these times, please email Karinn Figdore.

Still Need Board Members

We still need a President and two Directors to be on the 2017-2018 PTSA Board.  Board meetings are in the evenings at Enatai in the Library.  The President position can be shared between two people.  All the Director position does is come to monthly board meetings and vote when issues come up (No, really.  That's it.  Show up, share your opinion, vote.  That's all it is.)  If you are willing to attend monthly evening board meetings and be appointed as a Director, please email Jesse Pacem and let him know.

Jesse can also give you a good description of what it takes to be PTSA President... because he did it for two years straight, as a kindergarten and first grade parent.

Membership Update:  Be Part Of The Awesome!

Now that Kindergarten students have been assigned to their classrooms, please take a moment to log into your account at www.enataiptsa.org and update your information for the year.  To do this, click on the "My Account" gear icon in the left hand menu of our website, and select your students' grade and teachers.

Also, in order to remain a member in good standing, PTSA memberships must be re-purchased every school year.  Simply use this handy link or click the "Join PTSA" link on the left-hand side of our website.   There is more information about the benefits of PTSA Membership in our Membership 101 Info Page.

Note:  While some of the money from Membership fees helps us pay our administrative costs (insurance, etc.), most of the money that we receive from membership fees is passed on to the Washington State PTA and the National PTA.  A big part of what they do with that money is advocate for our children in Olympia and Washington DCIt is important that we send them a message that we support their advocacy efforts by getting 100% membership at Enatai Elementary!  Therefore, if there are two adults in your household and the extra $5 will not impact your family budget, please buy a Family Membership.

If you previously purchased an Individual Membership and now wish that you had purchased a Family Membership, we have added a new item to the Membership list - an "Upgrade Membership."  This is only $5 and will give a second adult in your household a membership.  Note:  This product is only for people who have already purchased an Individual Membership.  Just click the "Join PTSA" link and add one to your cart.  Can't remember what you ordered?  Click the "My Account" link in the left-hand menu and scroll down to "Orders."

Membership Status:  We have 565 students at our school, but only 156 PTSA Members.  Be part of the awesome, and Join Today!

Whew - that was a lot of asks for one newsletter.  I think everyone who got through all of that deserves a chance at a $5 Starbucks Gift Card, don't you?  Send an email to communications@enataiptsa.org with the subject line SBUX and I'll put your name into the hat.  My treat.  I'll draw a name on Sunday, Sept. 24.  Good luck!
