Join us at Family Reading Night, Oct. 3 from 5:45 - 7:15pm.  Bring your family to look at books and listen to special stories read by our Enatai  teachers/staff.  Students should feel free to come in their PJs!  This is a great time to purchase a book for your child's classroom from teacher's wish lists or books to stock your shelves ahead of Enatai's Read-A-Thon Fundraiser!

Families can also purchase any of the books online during the book fair.
Enatai PTSA uses Scholastic Dollars earned from book sales to support teachers and students with Scholastic News in Every classroom and books for the library and each classroom.  Thanks for your support and love for reading books!

Enatai Read-A-Thon Gearing Up!

On Monday, your student will be bringing home a packet of paper that is the ENATAI READ-A-THON.  This is our first major fundraiser of the year.  There are instructions in the packet that tell you how to participate in the Read-A-Thon.  This is a GREAT PROGRAM that encourages setting goals, team-building, and generates excitement about reading all while raising money to support important programs at Enatai.
We're not quite ready to unveil the Read-A-Thon page on our website (Sunday evening is a good estimate for that, and we'll make it super clear where to click I promise!), but we can give you a preview of the packet your kids will be bringing home, and let you know about the awesome prizes we have lined up for this event.  The good news is that there are LOTS OF WAYS TO WIN!
  • Participation: Every student who participates will receive a bookmark from Sno-King Ice Arenas that doubles as a coupon for FREE entry to public skate & skate rental!
  • Reading Achievement: The student who reads the most number of minutes in each grade level, regardless of amount of money raised, will receive a special Reading Certificate signed by Mrs. MacDonald PLUS a Free Frozen Yogurt from Yogurtland!
  • Highest Class Participation: The class that has the highest percentage of participation in the Primary Grades (K-2) and the Secondary Grades (3-5) will earn a "Popcicles on the Playground" Party!
  • The Most Money Raised per grade level:
    • First Prize – a Kindle For Kids Bundle!
    • 2nd Prize – a $50 Gift Certificate from our sponsor, Island Books!
    • 3rd Prize – a $25 Gift Certificate from our sponsor, Island Books!
The biggest key to success for any fundraiser is PARTICIPATION.  Please participate in the Read-A-Thon at a level that is comfortable and meaningful to you!  We cannot do the amazing things we do without your help!
If you have questions about the Read-A-Thon, please email Kerry Hill or Sarah Bryan.

Order Eaglewear by TUESDAY! 10/3

Get ready for “T-shirt Tuesdays” and Enatai Spirit Days!  Order your Eaglewear before the deadline on October 3!  Email Amy Lee with your questions. All sales are final. Items will be distributed to the students’ classrooms upon receipt; delivery expected by the end of the last week in October.  Thank you for supporting Enatai!
ProTip:  Buy a car magnet or sticker!  They are an awesome way to show your Enatai pride while driving around Bellevue!  :)

Enatai Movie Night Needs Volunteers!

Mark your calendar so you don’t miss Movie Night, which returns to Enatai Elementary Friday, October 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m. with DisneyNature’s Born in China (2017).  Movie Night has a long community tradition at Enatai, dating back to at least the 1970s. Families would join together to watch films like “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” and “Old Yeller” before there were VCRs.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for families to find their seats, get some snacks, and mingle with neighbors. Kids may enter the free prize drawings. Fresh hot popcorn, bottled water and licorice will be for sale with proceeds going to the PTSA. Additionally, there’s always a surprise or two at Movie Night, so don’t miss out!

There will be chairs set up in the Multipurpose Room for Movie Night, but kids may bring pillows, blankets and/or sleeping bags to sit on the floor. Parents may bring folding camp chairs, but try to bring ones with low backs. Keep high-backed chairs on the perimeter to prevent blocking our youngest audience members.

There are are still many holes to fill for volunteers!! If you are planning to attend Movie Night, please use this link and sign up to help out! If you have any questions about Movie Night, please email Sharon Pang.

Parental Advisory: Although rated “G” DisneyNature’s Born in China includes footage depicting some cruel realities of life in the wild. Scenes of animal peril and death may be disturbing for very little or sensitive children. Please review the details of the film at CommonSenseMedia.org to decide what is appropriate for your child.

Movie Night is FREE for Enatai families because of fundraisers like the Read-A-Thon!

Amy Hart for PRESIDENT!

Amy Hart has lived in Enatai for 18 years.  This is her 14th and final year at Enatai Elementary. In her first 8 years at Enatai she drove PTSA membership and produced the student directory.  PTSA achieved record membership levels during her administration.  She has worked with many different administrations here at Enatai.  When she noticed that PTSA was still looking for a President for the 2017/2018 school year she enthusiastically reached out eager to work with our current administration.
Amy's oldest student graduated from Bellevue High last year, she has an 8th grader at Chinook and has a 5th grader at Enatai. Amy took a couple year sabbatical from volunteering at Enatai so she could volunteer running Triangle Pool, successfully resurrecting the financial status and membership levels at Triangle. This year Amy is excited to bring the community back to the PTSA that was lost with the relocation and reconstruction of the school. Enatai PTSA has been a pillar of community for the school and for personal relationships.
We will be having a Special General Meeting on Wednesday, October 11, at 7:30 AM to elect Amy our new president!  We figure the entire meeting will take about five minutes.  We need at least TEN PTSA MEMBERS to be there to make this work, so please plan to attend!
We also had two PTSA Members step forward and offer to take on the position of Board Directors:  Sarah Bryan & Stacy Saal.  This will be the first year of being on the board for both of them.

After-School Activities at Enatai!

After-School Activities are finally back at Enatai!  Your student can enjoy Language, Art, or Tech classes.  There is more information about these activities plus registration links at the Enatai School Website.

Congratulations to Melissa Kaptik, winner of last week's Starbucks Gift Card!  I thought maybe since I plugged this newsletter feature at Curriculum Night, we should give it another go.  Send an email to communications@enataiptsa.org with the subject line "I LOVE ENATAI" and I'll put your name into the hat for a $5 Starbucks GC.  My treat.  I'll draw a name on Sunday, Oct 1.  Good luck!
