At the PTSA board meeting on 2/7, Principal Amy MacDonald brought to our attention that 4th grade class sizes are getting too big, with 28 students in each of the three classes. She would like PTSA's help in funding an additional instructional aide who would work primarily with 4th grade through the end of the year. Principal MacDonald has 25% of the funding from her school budget, another 25% from the District, and would like PTSA's help in funding the remaining 50%. Our portion of this expense would be $10,000. We will be discussing this issue and perhaps voting on amending the budget on February 26, 2018, at 7:30 AM in the front lobby.
All PTSA Members are encouraged to attend this meeting!! Not sure if you are a PTSA Member? Check your account status on our website. If you have a membership purchase listed under "Orders," you are a member. Another way to check is that all paid members have access to the online directory. If you are not a member and would like to become one, you can join here.
We will send a special email reminder on the 25th about this important meeting. If you have any questions, please email our president, Amy Hart.
While we have found a committee Chair for Multi-Cultural Week (Thanks for stepping up, Rachel Li!!) we are looking for people who might be interested in organizing other spring events that do not yet have Committee Chairs:
Science Fair - Currently scheduled for April 26
Carnival - Currently scheduled for June 8
Variety Show - Currently scheduled for June 15
Field Day - Currently scheduled for June 19
If you are interested in helping organize the above events or would like more information about them, please email our president, Amy Hart.
Also, if you would like to be on the Multi-Cultural committee with Rachel Li, please send her an email! She can't, nor should she try, to do it all by herself! :)
Thank you to all who participated in the Toast of Enatai last Saturday night. We are thrilled by the amount of support we received from the parents at Enatai with a sold-out event. So far, we have reached a fundraising amount of $88,490!
For those who were not able to participate in this event there are still many ways to help your child and our school.
And remember … it is not too late to donate! We are so close to $100K and with your help we can still can get there. Please donate here! Thank you, everyone!!
Congratulations to Hiro Mitchell-Lu, Chloe Tang, Emily Duke, and Zoe Zelinka, Aiden Kham, and Naomi Wiviott, whose Reflections Art Contest entries were selected as Outstanding Interpretation and will be moving onto the Statewide competition!! Entries advancing to State will be judged in the coming weeks and we will keep you posted as we get further information.
Congratulations also to Alex Li, Keeley Michelsen, Sydney Uyeda, Roy Kang, Yasmine Ismail, who were awarded Awards of Excellence, and to Bridget Hovind, Emily Duke, and Jason Gu who were awarded Awards of Merit.
WAY TO GO, EAGLES!!!
Throughout the City of Bellevue, February has officially been named, “Enatai Elementary School Month,” by Mayor John Chelminiak to mark the school's 65th anniversary!
The Mayor made the big announcement on February 6 in front of a crowd of 300 that had gathered for Celebrate Enatai at 65. Chelminiak was especially happy to bestow the honor because he said it was the first proclamation he had ever given, having just taken over as Mayor in January. King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci also came to the event to award a proclamation recognizing our school’s 65 years in the community. Both official documents are on display inside the glass case immediately to the right when you walk inside the main entrance.
Thank you to the Enatai Choir for its soaring rendition of America the Beautiful, a song which was on the program at the original dedication ceremony in 1953. Thank you to 2nd Graders Enzo Franze and Wyatt Pacem, plus 3rd Graders Jason Gu and Charlie Wilson, for their stately color guard presentation as representatives of Cub Scout Troupe 600.
And thank you to Sharon Pang for organizing such a wonderful event honoring our school!
Happy Enatai Elementary School Month! Congratulations to us!
It’s the final Movie Night of the school year on Friday, March 2, and we will be screening The Incredibles (2004), a Disney Pixar film about the adventures of a superhero crime fighter and his family, who return to adventuring after spending years living "normal" lives. Did you know the sequel to The Incredibles, called The Incredibles 2, will be released this June? Movie Night will be a good chance to see the original before seeing the sequel on the big screen!
The Incredibles is rated PG, but please check out the review and trailer on CommonSenseMedia.org to decide if appropriate for your child. Admission is FREE thanks to your donations to the PTSA.You can unsubscribe from this newsletter by following these directions.
