* Multi-Cultural Week & International Taste of Enatai is scheduled for the end of March. Event chair Rachel Li needs about 5 more people on the committee to make sure this event is a success. Please email Rachel if you are able to help. Even an hour or two would be appreciated.
* We have several Spring events that do not yet have chairs. If you are interested in taking the lead on Science Fair, Variety Show, Carnival, or Field Day, please email Amy Hart (or simply respond to this email). If we do not find anyone who is interested in leading these events, we will cancel them for this year and try again next year.
* If your student is participating in Passport Club, please sign up to help check passports and help make it fast and efficient for all students.
In event of a natural disaster or catastrophe, Enatai Elementary School has a large supply closet with emergency supplies to sustain the staff and children at the school. There are currently items missing or expiring that would assist the staff in caring for our children in the event we cannot. Our Enatai school budget is tight and we are asking for support in purchasing much needed safety items.
Please take a look at this Amazon Wish List and consider supplying an item for the closet. If you have questions or physical items to donate that would replace Amazon Wish List items, please contact Ali Sameti, Assistant Principal sametia@bsd405.org. Donations are tax deductible.
We still have a few teacher experiences / parties available for purchase through our website. If your grade/class is not listed, that means those slots have already sold out. Don't miss out! Buy your tickets today.
If you would like to learn about the fascinating history of Enatai Elementary School, please save the date of Tuesday, March 13, 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the 2 nd -floor library.
Parent Sharon Pang will repeat a slide show on this topic, which she originally presented at CELEBRATE ENATAI AT 65. Mandarin- and Japanese-speaking translators will be available. More details to come in the next newsletter. If you, or someone you know, can provide Korean, Spanish, and/or Russian translation at this event, please contact Sharon Pang.
Enatai PTSA would like to thank the 123 students that participated in a chance to win the Disco Bowl with your Teacher Raffle! Disco Bowl helped to raise $2735 toward the Toast of Enatai Fundraising totals. Winners were announced during morning announcements last Friday. Winners will receive an email this week with more details about the upcoming disco bowl event on Tuesday February 27th.
Thanks to the many volunteers, parents, teachers, staff, and students who helped make our Spring Scholastic Book Fair a success! We sold over $9400 in books. With some of our scholastic dollars, Enatai PTSA was able to purchase $2000 of new books for each classroom and school library. Our All for Book Donations coin box collected $35 for the school library and we had $340 donate from our parents to help purchase books for their teacher's classroom.
Without all the many wonderful parent volunteers we would not be able to have such a fantastic book fair. Thank you to the following parents: Ashley Dolan, Amy Franck, Aletha Howes, Amy Lee, Amy Tsai, Brenda Deng, Cheryl Evanson, Cheryl Wiley, Deanna Tegeler, Erin Zeitler, Heather Serres, Jennifer Strophy, Julie Uyeda, Kerry Hill, Leslie Howard, Megan Foreman, Renise Fung, Sarah Bryan, Sharon Pang, Sarah Meng, Shih-Shun Chen, Stacey Bennetsen, Susan Goeben, Thuy Wolf, Tia Smith and Wakana Hui. We apologize if we missed one of great volunteer helpers.
We'd also like to thank the Seattle Humane Society who came to share educational information for kids and pet adoption during our evening shopping event.
Finally, a very special thanks goes out to Leslie Howard who finished up 10 years of working with the Scholastic Book Fair at Enatai. Thanks so much for your time helping to put books in classrooms, the library and in the hands of our students!
If you didn't get a chance to come to the 65th anniversary event last week, the Bellevue Reporter has a nice article on it, including pictures of the Enatai Choir, student Cub Scout Pack 600, and Principal Amy MacDonald. Click here to see.
At the PTSA board meeting on 2/7, Principal Amy MacDonald brought to our attention that 4th grade class sizes are getting too big, with 28 students in each of the three classes. She would like PTSA's help in funding an additional instructional aide who would work primarily with 4th grade through the end of the year. Principal MacDonald has 25% of the funding from her school budget, another 25% from the District, and would like PTSA's help in funding the remaining 50%. Our portion of this expense would be $10,000. We will be discussing this issue and perhaps voting on amending the budget on February 26, 2018, at 7:30 AM in the front lobby.
All PTSA Members are encouraged to attend this meeting!! Not sure if you are a PTSA Member? Check your account status on our website. If you have a membership purchase listed under "Orders," you are a member. Another way to check is that all paid members have access to the online directory. If you are not a member and would like to become one, you can join here.
We will send a special email reminder on the 25th about this important meeting. If you have any questions, please email our president, Amy Hart.
