Variety Show & Carnival Need Co-Chairs

Enatai Dad Joe Harris came to the board meeting on Wednesday and said he would like to co-chair BOTH the Variety Show (June 8) and the Carnival (June 15), but will need co-chairs for these events.  Joe is a contractor by trade and AMAZING with logistics and making things happen (Joe was also the mastermind behind the Haunted House last fall!), but not so great with the email and volunteer coordination.  Joe would like a partner who would be willing to take on that part.

If you are interested in helping Joe make either or both of these events happen, please email communications@enataiptsa.org and I will get you in touch with him.  THANK YOU!!!

Are you a Social Media Maven?  We need your help!

We feel like we could be leveraging Social Media better than we are now for event & meeting reminders, keeping everybody in the loop, sharing BSD, BSF and Bellevue PTSA Council news, etc.  Next year's newsletter editor is not on Facebook at all, so we are looking for someone who would be willing to, for the remainder of this year and also for the 2018-2019 school year, be Enatai PTSA's Social Media Manager.  This volunteer position would mostly consist posting items on Facebook and creating Facebook Events.  If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, please let Kerry know.  Thanks!

Science Fair Update!

Join us on April 26th 6:00-7:30pm in the Enatai Gym for an evening of interactive science fun!  We encourage students from all grade levels to participate and share their findings with friends and families at the event.

Getting started is easy - download the information packet here and think of a question that can be tested in a simple experiment (more information on the process included in the packet).  Printed copies of the packet are also available in the office.  Science Fair is also an optional component of the Academic Adventure Program for students working towards an award!

We are looking for volunteers to help on the night of the event.  If you can help, please sign up here.  Questions?  Email Susan Goeben: sciencefair@enataiptsa.org

Curriculum Enhancement Update

Enatai's Second Graders enjoyed a trip to the Pacific Science Center in Seattle today April 6th
.  Second graders are starting a FOSS science unit on Insects and Plants.  Students got a chance to see an IMAX documentary on "The Flight of the Butterfly". They also got a chance to explore the Pacific Science Center butterfly house and living exhibits.
Enatai's First Graders embarked on a field trip adventure to the Bellevue Botanical Garden Society on March 28 and 30th!  While there, they learned more about the power of flowers and their pollinators.  This field trip enhanced what they have been learning in their current science unit on plants.  It was a wonderful way to get outside into nature and do some hands-on learning!
Enatai Kindergarteners recently took a field trip to the Seattle Children's Theatre to enjoy a production of Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience.  Kindergarten classrooms have enjoyed reading books by Mo Willems in their literacy studies.  This field trip gave the students a chance to see how the Seattle Children's Theatre made the Mo Willem stories and charters come alive.  The students enjoyed tail-shaking tunes and learned an empowering messages of individuality.
Throughout the month of March each Enatai 5th Grader class visited The Museum of Flight.  “Mission to Mars” was an amazing opportunity to land a space capsule on Mars!  Along with learning about NASA and their missions to Mars, the students worked as teams within their classes and practiced the important skills of collaborating and communicating within their group to make their Mars landings a success. This experience expanded their learning from their FOSS science unit about the Earth and Sun.   It was an experience enjoyed by all.

On Monday, March 26, 5th Graders enjoyed their last TOYMAKER Experience with Mr. Hartman During their time they made cars that moved with a rubber bands & a ruler.  It was fun watching students create and use their handmade cars.  They were able to learn about variables, motion and resistance which was directly related to what they learned in their Foss Science Unit.

Your donations to the Enatai PTSA allow these experiences to happen for our students!  Enatai students and teachers thank YOU!
