Special PTSA General Membership Meeting 10/18

A special PTSA General Membership meeting has been called to vote on new big budget items requested early this year including an intensive theater program run by 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Wilkins.  Per our Standing Rules, budget requests over $1000 require a vote by the General Membership.  This is a big budget request that requires your input!  Come and VOTE to tell us what you support and how our membership's money should be spent!

When:  Thursday, October 18th at 9:00am
Where: Enatai STEM Room

 This special PTSA membership meeting will be after the new Principal and PTSA Coffee Hour.  

 

Principal and PTSA Coffee Hour 10/18

Come get connected! Meet with Principal Amy MacDonald and Enatai PTSA at the monthly Principal and PTSA Coffee Hour. Meetings will be held the third Thursday of each month. Check the PTSA calendar for any adjustments to the schedule and regarding meeting topics. This month Amy MacDonald will discuss the Social Emotional curriculum and the bullying prevention unit. PTSA will present on overall view of funding and fundraising.

Spooky Spaghetti & Haunted House, Friday 10/26

This year's Haunted House theme has been announced as a "Night at the Library will give you Goosebumps!"

Friday, October 26th will be our first big community event of the year!  Tickets will be on sale online and at the door for dinner featuring spaghetti and marinara sauce with or without meatballs, garlic bread, Caesar salad, and cinnamon sugar doughnut holes for dessert.  Free activities will include a Cupcake Walk, contests like Guess the Pumpkin's Weight, and games such as Cauldron Toss!   

The highlight of the evening will be our 5th Grade Haunted House experience: "Night at the Library will give you Goosebumps!"  Tickets for the Haunted House will be on sale online and at the door, with discounts offered at the online pre-sale.  This year you can buy a wristband for unlimited visits to our frightful Library!  The first half hour of our "Night at the Library", from 6:00-6:30pm, will offer Lights-On tours for our cautious (or younger) guests.   Online pre-sales will open soon!  Visit our event webpage for more information and FAQS:  the Spooky Haunted Page.  

 

After School at Enatai: Performance 10/25 + New Production

Small Hands on Art presents Peter Pan!
Come see our Enatai Student's free recital of Peter Pan!  Students have been rehearsing every week since September for this performance and look forward to performing it for you!

New Production for Young Actors 
Howie and Amy McOmber with Small Hands on Art presents: Beauty and the Beast
Small Hands on Art is a non-profit organization that does not discriminate on any basis. Everyone who comes gets a part.
Rehearsal Dates: November 1, 8, 15, 29, December 6
Time: 2:25- 3:15 p.m.
Place: Room 179 at Enatai
Cost: $85.00
Recital: December 6 at 2:45 p.m., Cast arrives at normal time for costumes, please wear white shirts and black pants.

Scholastic Book Fair Fall Wrap-up

Thanks to the many volunteers, parents, teachers, staff, and students who helped make our Fall Scholastic Book Fair a BIG success! We sold $10,046 in books. Enatai's book fair makes 55% back in Scholastic dollars. With some of our scholastic dollars, Enatai PTSA was able to purchase:

-Scholastic News (weekly subscription) for ALL students K-5
-Storyworks for all students in Grade 5
-$515 worth of books for student that may not have otherwise been able to purchase a book at the fair
-$3570 of new books from the teacher's wish list book pile
-$1000 worth of books for the library.
-ALL FOR BOOKS coin box collected $28 for new books for the Preschool!

What was the secret to our success?

1. Parent Volunteers - Thank you to all the volunteers that helped- Amy Lee, Amy Tsai, Brenda Deng, Catriona Watson, Cheryl Evanson, Cheryl Wiley, Christin Denning-Wiviott, Claire Phillips, Danielle Trittenbass, Erin Zeitler, Heather Serres, Hsinyu Hsu, Jennifer Strophy, Jon Shoemaker, Lele Pham, LIsa Mohanty, Mara Aptacy, Megan Foreman, Meng Wang, Mina Hang, Naomi Okubo, Rae Okamoto, Renise Fung, Sabrina Sperry, Sarah Bryan, Sharon Pang, Stephanie Tamanaha, Susan Goeben, Shujen Wang, Thuy Wolf. We had so many wonderful volunteers we apologize if we left someone off.

2. Classroom Visits - Special classroom visit times where students could shop with their teachers. Thanks parents who came in to shop with their students during this time!

3. Family Reading Night Event - Thank you to the following teachers and staff for participating at our Fall Book Fair Family Reading Night -Mrs. Chun, Mrs. Charleen Lee (our Librarian), Mr. Wulbert and Ms. Maxwell. There was a great show of our parent and student community!

4. Enatai students' love for reading books!

Reminder: 5th Grade Staff Appreciation Lunch 10/18

5th Grade hosts this October's Staff Appreciation Lunch!
We invite 5th Grade families to sign up for our 5th Grade staff appreciation lunch: Taco Bar.  Each month a different grade will "host" a potluck based around a themed meal.  Take a look at the signup to see how you can contribute!

When: Thursday, October 18th
What:  Bring your food or supplies between 8:00am and 10:30am

Reminder: Inviting our Veterans to the Veterans Day Assembly 11/7

We invite all Veterans in our community to attend our Veterans Day Assembly.  The Enatai Choir will sing and our students will honor Veterans through songs. Students are encouraged to wear REDWHITE, and BLUE.
