Pokémon Detective Pikachu was the feature at last Friday’s Movie Night, where 115 kids in the audience entered the prize drawing that included a surprise furry bonus. Along with the traditional prize – seating on The Movie Night Sofa – the winner got to take home a life-size Detective Pikachu plush! And the winner was… Maddie from Mrs. Neal’s 3rd grade class. Second grader Robin (Ms. Greytak’s class) and 1st grader Liora (Ms. Maxwell’s class) were victorious in the special Pokémon Quiz Show, and they were awarded medium-size Detective Pikachus. At the end of the night, every family got a parting gift: a special pack of Pokémon trading cards.
Thank you to Enatai parents Kenji and Naomi Okubo, and the Okubo family, for bestowing the evening’s special giveaways. Thank you to these parent volunteers for staffing our theater: Shellie Bridges, Jack Castro, Chris Fletcher, Vince Gilbert, Wendy Gilbert, Jeannine Lemker, Keiko Nakamura, Rae Okamoto, and Jon Shoemaker. Thank you to Ms. Elena Houghton for assisting all night as our staff supervisor. Thank you to Selden’s Designer Home Furnishings in Bellevue for supplying The Movie Night Sofa.
NEXT MOVIE NIGHT…
Mark your calendar for the last Movie Night of the school year: Friday, March 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m. The featured attraction will be the classic favorite, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1970) presented in “Sense-o-rama”: See it…Hear it…Taste it…Smell it! Audience members will use their senses to enjoy this wonderful film based on Roald Dahl’s best-selling kids’ book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Dress up as your favorite character from the book, and you could win a prize! Start planning for the Costume Contest now! Both parents and kids are eligible.
Each year, King County Library System partners with local schools for a competition called Global Reading Challenge (GRC). Teams of 4th and 5th graders read six selected books and then answer questions about the books. Thirty Enatai students started reading these books in October and have been meeting as a team since November. On Monday February 3rd, Enatai's teams (Story Thieves, The Team of 2020, The 2020 Eagles, CSEEDS and Reading Wizards) came together to compete to answer questions about the books they read. Thank you to our librarian, Ms. Charleen Lee, for encouraging and coaching our students in this challenge!
